Food Pantry Summer 2021

August 19, 2021

Our Foundation responds with boldness and urgency to the unmet needs of the most vulnerable, especially when there are those in need in our own community. During the summer season, our team worked with Cabrini Immigrant Services’ NYC Food Pantry, and has been dedicated to supporting and feeding more than 200 families each week.

Whether it was lugging groceries up numerous flights of stairs or working as a team to fill the bags of food, our Sisters, staff, and volunteers worked tirelessly to provide meals for the disadvantaged. Though many of us come from different backgrounds, speak different languages or come from various parts of the world, we came together to “answer the call” for help, as Mother Cabrini did throughout her lifetime.

Covid-19 Rent Assistance Program

May 10, 2021

As access to COVID-19 vaccines become more readily available, it brings hope the pandemic will soon ease its grip.  Our prayers continue for all who grapple with the virus, and we are optimistic here in New York, once the epicenter of COVID-19 cases in the United States, we can soon return to a sense of normalcy.

For our immigrant families, business interruptions and closures have meant a loss of jobs.  The lack of working hours over the last year have led to mounting debt.   When it comes to paying for food or rent, the choice is obvious.  In response to this COVID-19 driven crisis, the Cabrini Mission Foundation offers a rent assistance program for those most impacted.

To qualify, renters must have documented proof of a current lease, a letter from their landlord as well as recommendation from one of our immigrant services caseworkers or immigration attorneys. The current family benefit is $1,000 and Foundation checks go directly to the landlords to cover past due rent.

The Cabrini Mission Foundation has been able to assist 37 families to date with this program.

Cabrini High School Fights Human Trafficking with “Sun’s Up, Dress Up” Day

April 27, 2021

Cabrini High School helped fight human trafficking on Friday, April 16, 2021 by participating in “Sun’s Up, Dress Up.” In place of the school’s annual Dressember promotion against human trafficking, Cabrini was inspired with the spring weather for “Sun’s Up, Dress Up,” a collaboration among all students leveraging fashion and creativity to promote the dignity of all women and stand in solidarity against the great modern injustice of human trafficking.

Founded by Mother Cabrini, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus supports two corporate stances, “To support the rights and dignity of all immigrants” and “To stop human trafficking.” This is the driving force behind Cabrini High School’s efforts to fight human trafficking. In keeping with Mother Cabrini’s own service to immigrants and migrants, today’s Missionary Sisters have prioritized work against human trafficking in their mission, in part, because studies show that migrants and immigrants are one of the more significant demographics to be victims of human trafficking.

“Sun’s Up, Dress Up” is a day to dress and advocate by keeping four important points in mind: dignity, fashion, modesty, and femininity. Students could pay two dollars to dress up with dignity, modesty, femininity, and their own fashion. These words guide the Cabrini dress guidelines for every occasion.

The money collected is being rounded up to $1,000 by the Cabrini Mission Foundation and donated to anti-human trafficking initiatives.

Cabrini High School as well as the Cabrini Mission Foundation ask you to join us to pray for victims of human trafficking.

Do You Want to Fast this Lent?

March 1, 2021

In the words of Pope Francis…

Fast from hurting words and say kind words.

Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude.

Fast from anger and be filled with patience.

Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope.

Fast from worries and have trust in God.

Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity.

Fast from pressures and be prayerful.

Fast from bitterness and fill your hearts with joy.

Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others.

Fast from grudges and be reconciled.

Fast from words and be silent so you can listen.

Wishing You a Merry Christmas

Prayer for Feast of the Sacred Heart

June 19, 2020

O SACRED HEART OF JESUS,

Fountain of eternal life,

Your Heart is a furnace of love.

You are my refuge and my sanctuary.

O my adorable and loving Saviour,

consume my heart with the burning fire

with which Yours is inflamed.

Pour down on my soul those graces

which flow from Your love.

Let my heart be united with Yours.

Let my will be conformed to Yours in all things.

May Your Heart bring healing for the world

of the COVID 19 pandemic and the current National crisis

May your Heart especially bring healing to the sick

and protection and care of the many health-care

workers and service providers in our communities.

May Your will be the rule

of all my desires and actions.  AMEN

Fr. Francisco Gallardo Lopez of Casa Migrante San Juan Diego and San Francisco de Asis Thanks Cabrini Mission Foundation for Donation of Funds to Build a Well

June 1, 2020

Dear Sister Pietrina

Fr. Francisco Gallardo Lopez and a team of lay workers greet you and wish you the best and may you be granted an increase  in religious vocations for the life of the Church.

We deeply appreciate the donation of $ 6,500.00 (six thousand five hundred dollars) for the project of the freshwater well and cistern at Casa Migrante. This action of supplying water to this institution will help many migrants, men, women, children, adolescents, youth, families, and people in general to have a better quality of life. It will strengthen hygiene and care for everyone, especially during this difficult time we are living in due to the COVID-19 virus that has impacted our lives so much and has caused so much suffering. You encourage us to carry out this project and we are very happy. Thank you again, dear Sisters, and as I said before may the Lord grant abundant vocations to your institute. I assure you the donation will be used appropriately.

May the Lord our God bless you abundantly,

Fr. Francisco Gallardo Lopez
