The Sisters came marching in to celebrate Mardi Gras with a luncheon organized by Cabrini Mission Foundation. The event, hosted at Sacred Heart Convent, was full of the holiday staples including colorful beads adorned in purple, green, and gold, and a King Cake, brought in straight from NOLA.

Mardi Gras kicks off the Lenten season, which provides an opportunity to share in reflection, fasting, prayer, deepening faith, remembrance of the sacrifices Christ made for us, and preparation for Easter. Together, we take this time to mirror God’s love for us to others in our communities and those who are in need of His support, in return deepening our relationships with each other.
The French word Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), celebrated on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, comes from the custom of using all the fats in the home in a large feast before Lent in preparation for fasting.
Special thanks to Sr. Maria Loretta for her contributions to the event!
