Cabrini Mission Foundation has continued its education grant program and awarded 2023 high school students with scholarships. The grant serves as an investment in the importance of a faith-based education and the enrichment it provides to children.
Kieran and Jacob, from Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY, submitted essays that embody the spirit of Mother Cabrini’s missions, and how many of the adversities she faced during her years of service are still prevalent today.
“Today we have thousands of migrants crossing the border every day. Many of them have been bused to New York. Even though we are a city that welcomes migrants, actually being able to attend to all their needs is another story. It is important that politics be put aside and that the people that are in need be looked at, as actual people, not just migrants. Mother Cabrini’s mission was just that. This is why her legacy is so important today. It is organizations that embrace her legacy and make Mother Cabrini’s life’s work their own crusade, that are making a difference in today’s world,” wrote Kieran in his submission essay.
The scholarships are part of an ongoing effort to ensure the continuity of Mother Cabrini’s education mission that has existed for over a century.
