The Cabrini Legacy Continues via Giving Society

On Tuesday, January 18, 2011, Merrill Lynch hosted an informative Mother Cabrini Legacy Society reception in midtown Manhattan, for theCabrini Mission Foundation (CMF).

Attending the Planned Giving event at the New York City offices of Merrill Lynch were Andres Rodrigues, Cabrini Legacy Society member; CMF President and CEO Nick Vendikos; and CMF Board Chair Daniel D. Rubino, Esq.

Headed by Paul Selvin, Senior Vice President of Investments – Wealth Management Advisor of Merrill Lynch, who has assisted CMF since its inception, and currently continues to provide investment guidance and philanthropic consulting.

“We are so grateful to Paul and Merrill Lynch for hosting this Legacy Society event. As the evening proved, planned giving is an amazing vehicle in which you can support CMF and our Cabrinian programs,” said CMF President & CEO Nick Vendikos.

Long-time Cabrini colleague and planned giving expert David Valinsky, President of David Valinsky Associates, LLC, specializes with non-profit organizations throughout the United States in the areas of planned giving, capital campaigns and board development. David spoke to over 25 guests in attendance about the various ways to become a Mother Cabrini Legacy Society member, and told some memorable stories about significant gifts.

Additional speakers included Merrill Lynch’s Chris Colombo, First Vice President – Investments Senior Trust & Estate Specialist, who discussed philanthropic trends towards religious organizations. Also presenting Greg Brunk, Managing Director and Product Specialist from BlackRock. Greg shared his personal insights on the financial markets in 2010 and projections for 2011.

“The Cabrini Mission Foundation has a special place in my heart because we were able to help with its formation and growth,” said Merrill Lynch’s Paul Selvin. “Over my 22 years at Merrill Lynch I have had the privilege of working with many foundations and charities and realize the importance of planned giving for both donors and recipients. I was delighted to lend my team’s expertise to such a worthwhile topic and for such a great organization.”
